Let The Great World Spin

"It wasn't just an offhand walk. He was making a statement with his body, and if he fell, well, he fell-- but if he survived he would become a monument, not carved in stone or encased in brass, but one of those New York monuments that made you say: Can you believe it? With an expletive. There would always be an expletive in a New York sentence."

Cake Decorating with Ace of Cakes' Duff!

Yesterday I went to the media launch party for Duff Goldman's new line of cake decorating products for Michaels.  Duff himself was there to help us decorate individual cakes (which we got to bring home!) and to give us words of wisdom ("Cake can't be ugly, it's delicious." and "There are no such things as beginning cake decorating supplies, only beginning cake decorators.").  We got to take home a gift bag filled with his products and an autographed apron.  Basically, it was the best afternoon.

Wicked!

http://www.spurgeonworld.com/willsblog/archives/wicked0606.jpg

Friday night I won the Wicked ticket lottery and got two front row (and center) seats to see the show!!  It was really amazing, and being in the front row made it all the better because we could see the actors' spit flying and the monkeys flew around literally on top of us.

Judith Lieber and Cinco de Mayo

Last night combined two very different, yet typical, New York things.  After work, we headed to the exclusive Judith Lieber cocktail party at her flagship store on the Upper East Side.  (For those of you who are designer-unaware, think cupcake purse at Carrie's wedding in the Sex and the City movie.)  To honor her new collection of zoo-inspired bags, she was selling 100 bags for $100 dollars each.  In retrospect, I should have bought a bag to sell on eBay (where they go for thousands of dollars), but too late now.  I'll just have to help my friends who are already regretting their new sparkly clutches.

After some champagne and lobster rolls, we headed downtown for some Mexican food to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.  After a long walk, we ended up at Block Heads in midtown, which is an extremely popular restaurant (especially on this "holiday").  We grabbed one of the outdoor tables and enjoyed some tacos and delicious guacamole.
